I loved your show on “toxic behaviors”. It really connected with me. Later in the day when I had more time to think about my toxic behaviors and where they came from, I realized that as I was growing up, I had mixed messages about eating. We grew up always conscious about weight. When I was young, I was considered chubby, slimmed out in early adulthood, back to overweight by 60 pounds. My sister at one point was anorexic. My mom is tiny and full of energy… from her I continue to hear how I (or other family members like her sisters) should just eat less portions, or just skip this, or just avoid that. Then when I do see her, its would you like to eat this, or that, or something else, what can I get you. So I thought about saying I can eat anything to myself and stop fighting it, but isn;t that what I’ve been doing to get where I am at? (My hubby also loves to eat and does not worry about weight at all.) Should I still try giving myself permission to eat anything I want? I get how after I do its how I beat myself up that is detrimental to my overall well being and thoughts around food. I also stress eat or emotional eat. Any thoughts? It’s the mixed messages I got from early on that confuse me on whether this is the right track to take.
Thank you for your wonderful show. This was the first time I was able to listen in.
